In daily life, Bert & Vief both work as art director, designer and producer for creative agency Shop Around. For this, they work closely with contemporary artists from all over the world. Bert & Vief’s main focus is on advertising and design. Among other thing they create artwork for recording artists and bands and design book covers. They also produce commercials. And opening titles for TV shows. Every year they come up with a new self-initiated project.

One of these self-initiated projects is an album they recorded, with covers of classic Dutch pop hits. The record was called ‘Bert & Vief’s Google Translate Hits’ because they translated all the songs via Google Translate. With the help of their musician friends, they recorded these songs and completely changed them into Electro/Glam/New Wave style Pop tracks. Some of the original artists (such as Barry Hay, the lead singer of the famous Dutch classic rock band Golden Earring) made guest appearances in Bert & Vief’s version of their song. British Rock singer Zodiac Mindwarp also makes an appearance.
The album was very well received. In the news section of this website you will find a small selection of the reviews.

‘Bert & Vief’s Google Translate Hits’ is available on colored vinyl (and comes with liner notes, a 12” sticker sheet and t-shirt transfer) through Suburban Records. You can order the album right here

They worked together with visual artists from all over the world on a record trailer with mini-music videos for every song on the album.
You can watch the trailer and all other music videos on the Bert & Vief YouTube channel. And of course on the video section of this website

Their latest single is an Indie version of Gerard Joling’s old hit ‘Ticket to the Tropics’. Of course, they’ve again completely renovated both the lyrics and music. The track is available via Spotify and other streaming services (Check: Bert and Vief).
